Jazz Singer Monica Chapman follows her heart's desire and reaches #1 on Reverbnation Toronto Jazz Artists Chart. Zack Brenneman sat down with the multi-talented singer to chat about her growing popularity in Toronto jazz scene and new upcoming album with producer Bill King.

With a voice as smooth as Billie Holiday, and as powerful as Etta James', Monica Chapman is a rising star in the Toronto Jazz scene. She's risen to #1 on Reverbnations Toronto Jazz Chart (http://www.reverbnation.com/monicachapman )and her music is being heard on many radio stations both national and worldwide. With extraordinary talent both as a singer and pianist, Monica's music has been featured on CBC Radio; "Front Row Centre" with Mark Andrew Lawrence; on Proud FM 103.9 Toronto; Wayland Radio, UK; The Jazz Hour with Mike Shenstone; Cuillin FM with Chris Grant; SOP Radio with award winning journalist Judith Piazza; on the AP and The Kerri Edleman Show. Monica was also a featured artist on "Talent Spotlight Magazine" and was interviewed by Jessica Gilbert. A beautiful illustration of Monica Chapman's silky voice is found on Autumn Leaves, from her 2009 EP, Heart's Desire.

Monica is currently performing live around South Western Ontario and preparing material to enter the studio later this year to record her next EP with famous pianist/composer/publisher/producer Bill King. I had a chance to sit and chat with the multitalented singer about her upcoming album, vocal techniques, and the influence of Classical music and Broadway theatre and their connection to her singing style.
